  • I finally made my Sephora friends and family order.  Squee!  I managed to keep the total under $130.  I played the "fill up the shopping cart, then empty it" game for a looong time.  Still, I'm happy with what I bought.  I'm drowning in cosmetics.  Ah, but what better way to die for a makeup addict?

I didn't go to my morning class on Thursday.  Bad procrastination habits.  Oh well.

Today I woke up late, and I decided to skip class because I still didn't type out my homework (I don't know why either!  I saw the movies 2 weeks ago!) and my teacher is back in Beijing.  What the hell was he doing there in the first place?  He's a Texan.  I dunno, the world's random like that.  So, my class started at 9:30, and here I am in my pj's, eating my oatmeal.

Speaking of oatmeal, I nearly burned it.  I was letting it sit on the stove, but when I got back to it, the heat was still on.  OSHIT.  It's okay though, no harm done.  The oatmeal is just... um... goopy?

I also don't have a Halloween costume.  But, I'm so busy this weekend, I don't think I'll make it out anywhere anyway.  Eh, at least I won't be piss drunk and vomiting in IHOP's bathroom like last year.  Yes, I was "that girl."

So, all in all, my week was a moderate fail.  But I don't care.  Why?  "It's Friday, I'm in love!"

    Happy Halloween!

  • Humidity + hair = self-induced torture

It's been so muggy lately.  I could deal with it if it weren't for my hair!  It's the longest it's ever been in my life (about halfway down my back), and in this weather, it's like a limp monkey that clings to my neck and gets in the way of everything I do.  Still, I want to grow it out for another year, then donate it to Locks of Love.  My resolve isn't holding up so well though, because I contemplated shaving myself bald today.  It's so effin' sticky!

In other news, I have the day off tomorrow, so I'm gonna go running in the afternoon, regardless of this shitty weather.  I need to get back into shape.

  • Scribbles

A few thoughts floating around in my cobwebbed mind...
    • Ala Moana concert is this week Thursday, the 22nd at 6pm, Center Stage.  Keeping with Fall Band tradition, we have way too much music, too little rehearsal time, and too many flutes, clarinets, and trumpets.  Also, I feel like usurping (yet I sit higher than her?) the other piccolo player because half the time, I can't hear her, and when I can and we're playing a duet, she's consistently half a beat behind me, which is baffling.  I can't wait for Spring Band.
    • I wish I had more time to check out more movies at HIFF.  So far, I've seen Empire of Silver and White on Rice.  I wanted to see The People I've Slept With and Precious, but the screenings didn't fit my schedule between school and work.  Still, I'm gonna attend the Shanghai University shorts, and of course, ACM night.  Next year, I'm thinking about volunteering so I can score some free tickets.
    • Empire of Silver is a Chinese movie about a family that owns a bank in China during the 1900s.  The cinematography is absolutely STUNNING.  So beautiful.  The music is gorgeous too.  The plot was a little confusing, but still an overall good film.
    • White on Rice is hilarious!  It's about a man who still acts like a child and his quest to find a new wife.  The dialogue is funny, but it's more the way the lines are delivered that makes it so enjoyable.  It opens at Dole Cannery on October 30th, so check it out if you can.  I think the director is self-distributing it, so if it comes to your neck of the woods, go see it!  Plus, Jason Kyson Lee aka Ando from Heroes is in it, looking quite yummy.  And for the fellas, Lynn Chen is absolutely gorgeous.  Yay for eye candy!
    • I've been having bad luck with cosmetics lately!  First, losing my expensive Lancome lip gloss after only a few weeks of using it.  Then, today an package came in from QVC.  I ordered the new Smashbox Halo Eyeshadow set with two brushes.  I think I effectively DESTROYED one of the brushes.  Its bristles are all frayed.  I'm trying to reshape it by tying a rubber band around it, but if that doesn't work... I already looked for a new one on eBay; it'd run about $10-15.  But I didn't even USE it yet!  Argh.  I'm also thinking about buying a new lip gloss.  Maybe the higher powers are telling me to curb my obsession.  But at least it's a creative addiction!  Not like my previous addictions, alcohol and Parker.  Both very destructive.
    • Speaking of cosmetics, Sephora's having their friends and family sale from October 19th to November 2nd.  Enter the code FF2009 at check out and score 20% off!  I'm currently loading up my shopping cart and emptying it, loading up and emptying... rinse and repeat.  Trying to keep the total under $200.  So difficult!
    • Motivation has returned for school!  I think it's because I finally overcame the hurdle of thinking up a story for my screenwriting class.  Now, I just have to straighten out my global media class (and actually ATTEND for once).
    • Exercise has been a major fail lately.  I finally got back into going to yoga at least once a week, but I still haven't made the time for running.  I feel whatever muscle I gained slowly atrophy-ing (is that a word?) back into fat.  Gross.
I'm tired.  No, LE tired.  Tschüss.

  • I'm addicted to these

... even though they're pointless and a waste of time.  I could be productive right now.  But who wants to be productive on a Saturday night?  Yeah, that's what I thought.

    Stolen from Krystal.

    1. Do you sleep with socks on or off?

Off, no matter what.  It feels weird when they're on.

    2. Do you flip your pillow to the cold side?

Not my current pillow.  It's one of those memory foam ones, and the other side is flat like a board.

    3. Do you like to hold or be held?

I like being held.  I'm selfish, what can I say?

    5. Do you want a small or big wedding?

Small.  Although I do have a big extended family... I don't really like being the center of attention though.

    6. What type of guys/girls do you usually go for?

Recently, Mr. Wrong.  The latest one was Mr. Wrong Timing.  Sigh.

    7. Would you rather be rich and unhappy or poor and happy?

Poor and happy.  I already am poor and happy!

    8. What are 3 things you want to do before you die?

Visit every continent (even Antarctica!), cure my monolinguism, hand glide.

    9. Have you ever churned Butter?

No.  City girl.  Always have been, always will be... although, if the random opportunity ever came up, I definitely give it a try.

    10. Are you trusting of new people?

No.  Actually, I have really severe trust issues.  It's a little debilitating.

    11. If you could rate yourself as a good or bad friend on a scale from 1-10?

    7.  I flake out a lot on hanging out time, especially with people I'm not that close to yet.  But I'm a really good listener, even with the aforementioned people.

    15. If your dream was to be a model and a big opportunity came up but you had to be nude, would you take it?

Depends on what it's for.  Tasteful nudity, like for an art show?  Sure.  Porn?  Nope.

    16. You and your friends are going to do a senior prank. What would it be?

Zip-tie all the lockers shut.  HAHAHA, THAT'D SUCK.

    17. What is the most money you would spend on a pair of shoes?

Well, my current status being a poor college student... $100.  But maybe when I get a real job, $200.  Unless I'm fabulously rich.

    18. What would you do if you found out a loved one had cancer and had 5 days to live?

Cry.  With them, for them.  Be there for support.

    19. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

    Emerald green?

    21. Do you have more friends or more acquaintances?

I have more acquaintances who think they're friends.  Mean, but true.  <--- So true, Krystal!

    22. If you could win a couple front row tickets to a game, any sport any team, what would it be?

I'm not a sports fan... so yeah, I'd probably sell them.

    23. Would you rather help someone out or be helped out?

I don't like asking for help.  As long as I'm appreciated, I don't mind helping others.

    24. If you had to choose to be a different religion than what you are now, which would you choose and why?

I'm very non-religious.  I use the Lord's name in vain all the time.  I even say Holy Buddah.  Haha, just kidding.

    25. If you found out you couldn’t have kids, would you adopt?

No.  I don't want kids.  Ever.  And, if I were ever delusional enough to change my mind, I'd want to adopt anyway.

  • Funny quotes!

    (on Daniel and Kandyce's relationship)
Me: I can't believe it's been a year already.  That went by fast.
Daniel: Not really.  But that's because I remember every day that I spent with this lovely lady.
Kandyce: *gives him a look* No, you don't.

(on a Japanese lady ordering a Long Island ice tea)
Matt: Put a lot of soda in it, I don't think she knows what she's getting into.

    (on the new Nova desserts)
Me: What do the desserts look like?
Matt: The desserts?  Well, they're on fire.

Sometimes, I really love my life and all the people in it.
